The Assistant Dean/Subject Area Chairman (Professional Subjects) supports all the undertakings of the Dean.          

Influenced and inspired by his father who was a Captain and a Naval Officer, Capt Torres took Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation (BSMT) in FEATI University and graduated in 1982.He started as a mess man on his first vessel in 1979. For about 14 years on and off on board a vessel he showed a difference concerning his attitude towards work, the willingness to learn and how to be a competent officer.

His strong desire to spend quality time to his growing children prompted him to stop for a while on boarding a vessel and concentrate in his trucking business in 1994.
      
His passion and strong conviction to share his on board experiences to aspiring Marine/Engine officers made him to accept a teaching position in the Academy in 2001. He strongly believes that each student could acquire knowledge and skills by maintaining focus in what he is doing, continuous practice and to keep on thinking plus a positive attitude in life.

To keep abreast, he is now pursuing his Ship Superintendent Course that will eventually lead to a degree in Master of Science in Marine Transportation (MSMT).

A successful businessman, fulfilled husband to Evenly Cruz Torres and a proud father of three (3): Denmark, Anne Catherine and Paul Jason.
